Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Miami and South Florida?
The Host Congregation of the 2010 ILC is the South Florida Church of Christ which has members primarily in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties (as well as surrounding counties) in South Florida.  The tri-county area is typically referred to as South Florida.  The 2010 ILC will be held in the downtown region of the City of Miami.  As you travel to South Florida, you will hear the area referred to as Miami or South Florida.
Who is invited to attend the ILC and IWMC?

All church leaders, elders, staff, small group leaders, house-church leaders, Bible talk leaders, deacons, and anyone desiring to serve in leadership or interested in leadership training are invited to attend.  Please note that for security reasons international attendees who are NOT affiliated with our fellowship of churches will not be given letters of invitation to attend the conference.  Because of the volume of inquiries, we kindly ask that if you are not affiliated with our fellowship of churches please do not submit a request.  Each request is specifically researched for validity and verified.

NOTE: If you register for the ILC you may attend any of the IWMC sessions.  If you only register for the IWMC, you will only be able to attend sessions beginning Friday at 2:00 pm.

Do I register for housing at the hotel directly?
Yes. We will not be able to arrange hotel reservations for you. After you submit the registration form for the conference, you must then make your own hotel reservation to reserve a room for you at the Hyatt Regency Miami [CLICK HERE FOR HOUSING PAGE]
Should I stay at the hotel even if I could find housing with South Florida disciples at their homes?
While there are many other hotels around downtown Miami and throughout the city, we negotiated a great deal to get the hotel rooms at a reduced price for ILC attendees. We understand the desire to save money, but in order for us to be able ensure the low prices for registration, we implore all ILC attendees to stay in the hotel. Just think of all of the additional fellowship you will have with brothers and sisters while waiting for the elevator or sitting down at breakfast in the hotel lobby!

However, if international attendees have significant financial difficulties, please let us know, and we will try to arrange housing with disciples who live in the South Florida area.  Also note that all housing provided by the South Florida Church is at least 30 minutes travel away from the downtown Miami Area.

When should I book my flights?
Please book your flights as soon as possible. The sooner you book your flight, the cheaper it is likely to be.
Which airport should I fly to?

To attendee the ILC, attendees can fly into Miami International Airport (MIA) [7.6 miles] or Hollywood-Ft. Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) [24.6 miles].  Generally domestic flights will be less expensive through FLL and MIA offers a plethora of international flight options.

How should I get from the airport to the hotel?
Please see the Airport Transportation Page for details on how to get to the Hyatt Regency Miami.
Will I need a rental car?
No. All sessions will be held under one roof so while at the ILC you will not need transportation.  Miami offers the normal public transportation (buses and taxis) as well as a free MetroMover [MetroMover Website] tram in the downtown area.  This will afford easy access to restaurants and shopping.
What if I need a formal Letter of Invitation?
Read and follow the instructions on the Travel Information Page under Visa information.

Your Letter of Invitation can be obtained from the South Florida Church of Christ. If you’d like the church to send you a Letter of Invitation, register for the ILC and if you visa is declined we will refund your cost.

Sponsorships

Traveling to the United States for this conference is financially impossible for a large number of our brothers serving God in countries and congregations less privileged than most here in the United States. We ask you to consider sponsoring one or more of our brothers and sisters to attend this conference.. We understand that we are living in times where many budgets are stretched tight, but we ask you to consider how we can use the much we are blessed with to help those with less. Read More
